Counsellor –

Jay Ellul

I came to the centre looking for connection and also an ability to give back to the community in some way. Both of which I have been able to achieve. I have made some lovely friends and had some amazing experiences already. I’ve also been running groups and using my counselling skills to help make a difference. So I feel very fortunate and grateful to the centre.

Management Committee –

President –

Tatia Power

I joined RCW and the management committee in 2014 after returning from a couple of years living in the Philippines with my family. I wanted to replicate the supportive community ‘village’ feeling I’d experienced in the Filipino culture. Over the years, as I’ve become more and more involved with the centre, I have definitely found my ‘village’. Daily I am supported and inspired by the incredible women who devote hours to building our community and empowering women of all ages. I’m excited by the potential for RCW and hope to bring my passion for women’s issues and experience in management, marketing and support services into my role as president of the committee.

Committee Members –

Sarah Watson

I became apart of RCW in 2015 when I had my little boy (6weeks old) and have since enjoyed some of the group’s and activities that the Centre has to offer. I have made lifelong friends and learnt many skills along the way. Having grown up in the Redlands, I am passionate about supporting locals and allowing everyone to have access to the fantastic resources we have on offer here at rcw. I have a background of management, hospitality and bring a whole lot of life skills too. Being the eldest of 7, I take great pride in my family and friends.

Deborah Kellie

Dr Deborah Kellie has been a member of the Centre for 2 years, and has lived in the Redlands with her husband Graham for the last 18 years.   Some members might know Deb from her work with the local  Zonta Club of Wynnum Redland, others from her 2015 election campaign for the seat of Redlands.  She was elected to the Management Committee at the 2017 AGM.  Deb has enjoyed a varied professional career, encompassing hospitality management; teaching at university & TAFE; human resource management; organisation development and has spent the last 16 years as  a barrister working in criminal and family law. She brings varied skills & expertise to the Centre’s management committee. She also has prior board experience, having served as a non-executive director of Anglicare Rockhampton for 2 years.  She has authored several journal articles and presented at international conferences on topics as diverse as domestic violence, child protection, social justice, education and criminal law.

Being a member of the Management Committee seemed like a perfect way to get more involved and help assist in the process of change the centre is currently going through. I hope my current skills will be valuable in shaping the future of the centre moving forward.
